Comprehensive veterinary care for dogs and cats in Port St. Lucie. Since 1990, Animal General Hospital has provided personalized medical, surgical, dental, diagnostic, and preventive care—treating every patient as an individual.
Wellness & Preventive Care
Diagnostic Services
Regular examinations help us evaluate your pet’s overall health and identify potential problems early. Services include physical examinations, puppy and kitten care, senior-pet wellness, individualized vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutritional guidance, behavioral consultations, and microchipping.
Our diagnostic capabilities include in-house laboratory testing, complete blood counts, chemistry profiles, urinalysis, fecal testing, and additional specialized testing for selected medical conditions. We also provide digital radiography, ultrasound, electrocardiography, cytology, biopsies, and laboratory pathology.
Surgery & Anesthesia
Dental Care
We perform spay and neuter procedures, soft-tissue surgery, mass removal, abdominal and bladder surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, wound repair, and selected ophthalmic procedures. Preanesthetic bloodwork and electrocardiography are required for elective procedures. Each patient receives an individualized anesthetic and pain-management plan with appropriate monitoring and intravenous fluids.
Our dental services include complete oral examinations, professional cleaning and polishing, treatment of periodontal disease, necessary extractions, evaluation of broken or infected teeth, oral mass evaluation and biopsy, and individualized home dental-care recommendations.
Internal Medicine
Hospitalization & Supportive Care
We diagnose and manage gastrointestinal, kidney, urinary, liver, endocrine, cardiac, respiratory, dermatologic, infectious, neurologic, arthritic, and age-related conditions. Treatment is based on each patient’s diagnostic findings, comfort, and quality of life.
Hospitalized patients may receive intravenous fluids, injectable medications, pain management, nutritional support, oxygen support, wound care, medical monitoring, and postoperative observation during regular hospital hours.
Laser Therapy
Noninvasive treatment for pain, inflammation, and healing.
Animal General Hospital offers MLS® laser therapy, a form of photobiomodulation that uses specific wavelengths of light to support the body’s natural healing response. Treatment is painless, requires no incision, and usually requires no sedation.

Selected back and neck conditions
During treatment, a handheld applicator delivers laser energy to the affected area. Most pets remain comfortable and relaxed. Treatment time, frequency, and the number of sessions depend on the condition being treated and your pet’s response. Laser therapy is generally used alongside—not instead of—appropriate examination, medication, diagnostic testing, surgery, or rehabilitation. Dr. Borrego will determine whether laser therapy is appropriate for your pet.
Telemedicine

Florida law permits licensed veterinarians to provide consultations using telemedicine. Animal General Hospital offers telemedicine only for established patients that have been examined in person by one of our veterinarians within the previous 12 months. Dr. Borrego will determine whether telemedicine is appropriate for your pet’s condition. An in-person examination may be required whenever necessary to provide proper medical care.

If your pet has difficulty breathing, collapses, has uncontrolled bleeding, experiences seizures, or requires immediate care—especially outside our business hours—contact an emergency veterinary hospital immediately.
